From 30 March to 30 April 2026, RISE Balkans ran an anonymous online survey for young people aged 18–26 in Greece, Bulgaria, Croatia, Albania and North Macedonia, in the national languages. The survey received 436 valid responses: 67 from Greece, 62 from Bulgaria, 105 from Croatia, 146 from Albania and 56 from North Macedonia.
Some of the key findings:
- 91.5% of the respondents considered corruption widespread or very widespread in their country.
- 58.9% were very or extremely interested in public issues, but only 19.7% felt very or extremely informed about how they could participate.
- The lack of clear information, or disinformation, was the main barrier to participation (62.2%).
- 81.0% believed that young people can make a difference in reducing corruption, but only 15.8% knew exactly where to report it.
- A youth-friendly digital platform was seen as the most useful tool (49.5%), and workshops and clinics were the preferred format of participation (39.9%).
The results fed into the National Reports and the Comparative Analysis Report of the project, together with the findings of the focus group discussions and the validation workshops. Many thanks to all the young people who took part!
